In short: you can use Rulewise without an account. We don't keep the questions you ask: they are deleted as soon as your answer is ready. We keep only what we need to run your account, count daily questions and take payments. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell data.

2. What we collect and why

Please don't include names, health details or other personal data about yourself or others in your questions. Rulewise answers general questions about the rules and doesn't need them.
3. Who receives your data
We share data only with providers that help us run Rulewise, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions or as independent controllers where stated.

To check whether an act is in force, we query the EU Publications Office with the act's number only. Your questions are never sent to EU institutions. We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
4. Transfers outside the EU
Some providers process data in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework if the provider is certified under it, or by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses with additional safeguards. You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguards.

6. Cookies and local storage
We use one cookie, rw_session, only when you sign in. It keeps you signed in for up to 60 days and is shared across Rulewise subdomains. We also keep the field you last chose in your browser's local storage. Both are strictly necessary for the service you ask for, so we don't ask for cookie consent. We use no analytics, advertising or social media cookies.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw any consent you gave. You can delete your account yourself from Account, after cancelling any subscription, or write to . We reply within one month.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work. Our lead authority is .
8. Automated answers
Answers are written by an AI system. Rulewise makes no decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
9. Children
Rulewise is not meant for children under 16, and paid plans are for people aged 18 or over. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use encrypted connections, store only one-way hashes of sign-in tokens and sessions, keep payment details with Stripe, and limit access to data to people who need it to run the service.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will tell account holders by email before it applies.

1. About these terms
These terms apply to your use of Rulewise at and its subdomains, operated by , registered in under number , ("we", "us"). By using Rulewise you accept these terms. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal data. Rulewise is not affiliated with or endorsed by the European Union or any of its institutions.
2. What Rulewise is, and what it is not
Rulewise answers questions using an AI system that searches a database of EU legislation downloaded from EUR-Lex and the EU Publications Office. You are interacting with an AI system, not a person.
Answers are general legal information. They are not legal advice, do not create a lawyer-client relationship, and do not take your full circumstances into account. Answers can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, including because legislation changes or a rule depends on national law, case law or facts we don't know. Rulewise covers EU law only and does not cover the national law of any country, except to point out when national law decides. Do not use Rulewise as your only basis for decisions with legal, financial, medical or safety consequences, or for deadlines. Check the official text and consult a qualified professional.
3. Who can use Rulewise
You must be at least 16 to use Rulewise and at least 18 to buy a paid plan. If you use Rulewise for a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.

A question is each message you send that gets an answer. Daily limits reset at midnight UTC and unused questions don't carry over. Plan features are described on the pricing section of the site. We may change free-plan limits at any time. We will not reduce the limits of a paid plan during a period you have already paid for.
5. Payment and renewal
Paid plans are subscriptions billed monthly in advance in US dollars through our payment provider, Stripe. Any VAT or sales tax due is calculated at checkout. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. If a payment fails, we may move your account to the Free plan until payment succeeds. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email; the new price applies from your next renewal after the notice period, and you can cancel before then.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time in Account, then Manage billing. You keep your plan until the end of the period you already paid for, and it then will not renew. Apart from the right of withdrawal below, or where the law requires it, we don't refund partial periods.
7. Right of withdrawal for EU and UK consumers
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you may withdraw from a new subscription within 14 days of buying it, without giving a reason. At checkout you ask us to start your subscription straight away. If you then withdraw within the 14 days, we refund what you paid minus an amount in proportion to the days you had the plan before telling us you are withdrawing.
To withdraw, send a clear statement to from the email address you subscribed with, for example: "I withdraw from my Rulewise subscription bought on [date]." We refund you within 14 days of receiving it, to the payment method you used.
8. Your account
You sign in with a link sent to your email address. Keep access to that mailbox secure, because anyone who can open it can sign in. A paid plan is for one person; don't share your account.
9. Acceptable use
Don't use Rulewise to break the law or harm anyone. In particular, don't:
- query Rulewise automatically, scrape it, or use it to build or train another product or AI model;
- resell or give others access to Rulewise or its answers as a service;
- get around daily limits, for example with several accounts or by changing IP addresses;
- try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to Rulewise, or extract its instructions or code;
- enter personal data about other people that you have no right to share.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we close a paid account without a serious breach by you, we refund the unused part of the current period.
10. Content and intellectual property
The legal texts come from EUR-Lex. © European Union. Reuse of EUR-Lex content is authorised provided the source is acknowledged, and only EU legal texts published in the Official Journal are authentic. You may use the answers you receive for your own purposes, including in your work. We claim no rights in your questions. The Rulewise name, logo, website and software belong to us.
11. Availability and changes
We work to keep Rulewise available and its databases up to date, but we don't guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that a given act has already been added. We may improve, change or stop parts of the service. If we stop Rulewise entirely, we will give paid users reasonable notice and refund any unused prepaid period.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or intentional or grossly negligent conduct, or your mandatory rights as a consumer. Within those limits, we are not liable for decisions you take based on answers, for loss of profit, business or data, or for indirect losses. Our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or 50 US dollars if that is more.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we will email account holders at least 30 days before they apply. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then. Continuing to use Rulewise after the changes apply means you accept them.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of . If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring proceedings there. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any complaint. Consumers may also use out-of-court dispute resolution through the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (Česká obchodní inspekce, www.coi.cz).
